Happy Birthday Jesus!

We started a tradition this year of making a birthday cake for Jesus. The icing was a bit thin, but otherwise it was fun to do with Grayson. We made sugar cookie stars; next year I'll remember the angels. We have really focused on the wise men following the star this year, so that was more meaningful to Grayson. He kept saying, "Mommy, the wise men followed the star." Randomly he told me, "Mommy, Jesus is the light of the world." That warmed my heart to know he was listening when I told him that about the lights on the Christmas tree.

A girl from my MOPS group last year gave me the idea of the birthday cake. It was a great way to talk to Grayson about Christ.

The Recipe for Jesus’ Birthday Cake

Make a round CHOCOLATE cake to symbolize OUR SINS.

Ice the cake with WHITE frosting to symbolize JESUS’ PURITY that covers our sins.

Top with a YELLOW STAR and an ANGEL to symbolize THE BEARERS OF THE FIRST GLAD TIDINGS.

Place TWELEVE CANDLES on the cake to symbolize that JESUS CHIRST IS OUR LIGHT throughout the whole year.

Encircle the cake with EVERGREENS to symbolize the EVERLASTING LIFE that we can have through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
